Extrusion
Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics has over forty years of silicone, PVC, and thermoplastic fluoropolymer extrusion experience in the pharmaceutical market. We extrude both standard and custom tubing in a variety of thermoset and thermoplastic elastomer materials. These high quality and fully characterized products can be produced in multiple manufacturing sites located throughout the world.

Molding
Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics is the leader in custom molded silicone products ranging from stoppers to custom molded assemblies called Sani-Link® (Patent No. 6,290,265) which eliminate the need for barb type fittings creating a leak proof aseptic transport system for your biological materials. These assemblies are custom designed in the configurations to match your fluid transfer needs.

Our application development engineers and technical field sales teams partner with our customers to understand all aspects of the components performance capabilities ranging from material characterization to physical performance. Our molded products are fully tested and meet USP Class VI, European Pharmacopoeia , and FDA criteria to facilitate your internal validation processes.

Prototyping & Tooling
Prototyping:
In order to support your ever changing application requirements, you need a partner who responds quickly and efficiently to your specific needs. At Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics we understand just how much is riding on your new process requirements. To help you navigate through these challenging projects we can offer the following:

• The capability to take your concept or ours and develop technical drawings, product pricing, and prototypes in very short order to help with your validation or process requirements.

• The ability to provide product design, material development, and product testing assistance to help ensure your internal systems are met.

Our Application and tooling engineers stand ready to assist you and your staff in transitioning application concepts to process reality.

Tooling:
Success of a finished product depends on many factors during development, production and assembly. The most critical elements include product design, raw material choice, and tooling for manufacture.

At Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics we have in-house tool-making capability at two of our North American facilities that can provide prototype and production tooling for our extrusion and molding processes. Our tooling centers are staffed by experienced journeymen toolmakers and are equipped with Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) EDM, mill and lathe machines with state-of-the-art design support software.

We employ the polymer chemists and process engineers to provide you with material design solutions and product innovations to better improve your product quality, efficiency, and overall manufacturing capabilities. These vast resources are available from products ranging from silicone tubing and custom designed manifolds and molded assemblies to advanced Thermoplastic Elastomer technology allowing aseptic transfer and movement of your sensitive biologicals and pharmaceutical processes. With industry standards such as Sani-Tech®, Tygon®, Pure-Fit®, Versilic®, and Pharmed®, we offer breadth of product and the finest materials in the world. Our products are fully characterized, through extensive biological, chemical and physical testing. Our products meet such standards as USP Class VI, ISO 10993, European and Japanese Pharmacopoeia, and FDA criteria to help facilitate your validation processes.

With this level of experience and expertise we can easily suggest the proper material for your application. If we can’t find the proper match with our standard products, or our more than three thousand custom formulations, we will develop one to meet your specific needs.

Research & Development
Saint-Gobain Performance Plastic’s commitment to Research & Development is unparalleled in the industry. Our goal is to keep a steady stream of new and innovative products available to meet the demanding requirements of the BioPharmaceutical market. We are ready to assist you and your staff in developing solutions to your process and production applications.

Our Northborough Research Center, located just outside Boston, Massachusetts recently completed an expansion growing in size to 125,000 square feet. This facility contains the company’s major center for high-performance plastics development. There is a large staff of researchers working on new innovations and enhancing old ones to help reshape the BioPharmaceutical industry. This Research Center will focus on chemistry, properties, and characterization as well as shaping and processing polymers and composites for products utilized in the BioPharm, Pharma, and BioTech sectors.
